Since our initial article on the Sibaya Precinct, featured in our Local Real Estate May 2024 newsletter, significant enhancements are now underway at Devmco Group’s mixed-use precinct in Sibaya. These include future-focused workspaces, a Design Quarter that has attracted both local and international blue-chip brands, and two planned hotels.
As one of the most ambitious master-planned developments in KwaZulu-Natal — where Devmco Group achieved recognition as one of the fastest-selling developers in South Africa — the company is further strengthening its master developer role at Sibaya. Building on an infrastructure-led mixed-use foundation established 10 years ago, these carefully curated additions will reinforce both commercial strength and long-term community benefit.
These enhancements include:
The Porsche Group who will be developing a spectacular state-of-the-art automotive centre on a 20,000m² site that stand on the world stage.
A 2,500m² flagship gallery-style store by Weylandts.
A bespoke 2,500m² building for Hertex, featuring a signature rug gallery showcasing its renowned craftsmanship, an extensive materials library to inspire designers and developers, and an expanded HAUS homeware experience. The space will also incorporate a dedicated outdoor living zone and a purpose-built trade workspace designed to support and elevate design professionals.
According to Brad Winstanley, Development Manager for Devmco Group, having observed that Design Quarters are sought-after destinations in many parts of South Africa, Devmco elected to incorporate a curated Design Quarter for the North Coast, focused on furniture, décor, design and lifestyle. The calibre of blue-chip brands secured is a testament to the strong confidence these premium brands have in the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast region.
H.Q, Sibaya was also recently launched by Devmco and will comprise an 8000 sq metre building offering flexible office ownership solutions tailored to entrepreneurs and businesses seeking to bridge the North Coast market with the broader Durban corridor. H.Q provides modular ownership options, shared services, interconnected office suites, pause areas, boardrooms, business centre facilities, and a rooftop entertainment space with expansive views.
In addition, Devmco has incorporated two hotels into the Sibaya Precinct offering and is currently in negotiations with several international hotel brands. The planned inclusion of these hotels reflects another hallmark of successful mixed-use environments: integrated hospitality. Globally, hotels within secure mixed-use precincts act as economic multipliers, supporting conferencing activity, retail spend and business tourism.
The next stage in the evolution of the Sibaya mixed-use development is its connectivity element, which will significantly amplify value. This is being achieved through the ‘Green River’ concept, creating active links between precincts via continuous movement corridors. These include walking and cycling trails, as well as dedicated golf cart paths, seamlessly connecting commercial, residential, and retail areas. The integrated network ensures that residential estates, retail zones, offices, hospitality, and lifestyle offerings function cohesively rather than in isolation, while enhancing everyday convenience and quality of life within the privately managed, secure precinct.
Sibaya Precinct is not simply growing. It is evolving into a globally aligned, experience-driven mixed-use destination — seamlessly connecting living, working, and leisure spaces through thoughtful planning, sustainable infrastructure, innovative design, and curated investment that benefits both the community and the broader North Coast region.
