Zimbali Lakes Resort to Accelerate Its Development


Zimbali Lakes Resort is continuing to attract attention showcased by exceptional sales of nearly R300 million in sales during 2025, plus its master developer IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFAHR) deepened its commitment with a R1.2 billion cash injection in late 2025. This capital is specifically targeted to accelerate the development of key assets over the next 18 months, with many slated for completion by 2028. This confidence is echoed by financial partners, with Absa's Corporate and Investment Banking reaffirming its support for the visionary project. Absa's Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division confirmed a R1 billion funding partnership with Zimbali Lakes Resort with Somaya Joshua, managing executive of commercial property finance, calling it a “bold and visionary development” that “underscores our confidence in the project's potential to drive growth in the KwaZulu-Natal property market.




The new R1.2 billion in funding from IFAHR will be used to accelerate development across the estate over the next 18 months which will include:
  • The Zimbali Lakes Clubhouse
  • The Zimbali Square Retail Centre
  • The Zimbali Sports Club
  • The Ernie Els Suites and Avanti Residences, and
  • The TSC Supercar Showroom & Vault.

On-site progress is well underway, with all bulk earthworks and services projected for completion by December 2026

A key driver of the sales record is the successful launch of two additional high-end residential concepts namely Ernie Els Suites, and The Avanti Residence. These additional developments complement The Ridge which features 258 freehold stands (800–1700sqm) showcasing contemporary eco-conscious architecture, alongside 26 PUD sites with 280 sectional title units. Additionally Evergreen Village will encompass 750 Life Rights retirement units with on-site healthcare, assisted living, frail care, and recreational amenities whilst Tatali encompasses a collection of residential offerings (This range of residential offerings were outlined in Local Real Estate’s newsletter July 2023).

These luxurious residences range in price from R2.45 million to R17.5 million and 9 unts have already been sold. This exclusive development will also include the TSC Skybar and Restaurant, as well as various boutique and retail amenities.
